Cardinals head to the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship Saturday

UNIVERSITY CENTER — The SVSU Cross Country program will head to the NCAA Division II championships on Saturday, Dec. 1 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at Bob O'Conner Golf Course at Schenley Park. Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania and SportsPITTSBURGH  will serve as hosts. The men's race will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern, followed by the women's race at 12:15 p.m. Eastern. 

The men's team recieved an automatic bid to the championships after finishing second at the regional meet earlier in November. The Cardinals were led by senior runner Tom Goforth, who finished in fourth with a time of 31:48.18 in the 10k race. Nate Frasier also did impeccably well for the Cardinals, running a 31:57.42, earning a ninth place finish to round out the Top 10 finishers for SVSU. 

Other runners to watch out for include Austen Mandernach, Parker Eisengruber, and lastly, Ryan Talbott. Mandernach, along with Goforth and Frasier, each earned All-Region accolades. 

Although the women's team did not recieve an automatic bid after their fifth place finish in the regional meet, Allison Dorr qualified as an indiviual after finishing in ninth place overall with a time of 21:54.62.
