Parker Nets Hat Trick in Loss at Grand Valley

ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University lacrosse team lost 25-3 at Grand Valley State on Friday afternoon. The Cardinals (0-8, 0-3 GLIAC) saw three goals from Gabby Parker in the afternoon for her second hat trick of the season.

SVSU fell behind 5-0 in the first seven minutes of play before Parker made her first goal at the 7:35 mark of the first quarter. The Lakers (9-3, 4-0 GLIAC) had four more scores before the end of the quarter to take a 9-1 lead into the second.

Parker scored a man-up goal off an assist from Lainey Lasky in the final three minutes of the half to trim the deficit to 12-2. GVSU got one more shot in the net with a single tick on the clock before the half.

Parker completed the hat trick to kick off the fourth quarter when she scored off a second assist from Lasky with 13:05 left in regulation, but the Cardinals couldn't keep pace with the Lakers.

Parker scored her three goals on a team-high of four shots. Lasky added a shot with her two assists. Sophia Ried, Dorrie June, and Mikaila Stone led the way with two ground balls, while June had a team-best two caused turnovers.

UP NEXT: The Cardinals will remain in Grand Rapids as they face Davenport on Sunday, April 6, for a noon matchup.
