Women’s Golf Sits in Sixth After First Day of GLIAC Championships

AUGUSTA, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf team completed the first round of the GLIAC Championships on Friday at Stonehedge Golf Course. The Cardinals posted a team score of 312 (+24) and currently sit in sixth place out of nine teams.

Christina Nagy and Brook Herbstreit led the way, each carding a 77 (+5) to tie for 17th place. Hannah Hauser and Andie Martin followed closely behind, both shooting 79 (+7) to tie for 24th out of 46 golfers. Megan Kozlowski rounded out the lineup with an 84 (+12). Martin led the team with three birdies, while Nagy added two. Hauser and Kozlowski each recorded one birdie.

The team performed particularly well on par threes, averaging 3.20 strokes (+6), the third-best mark in the field. SVSU ranked sixth in birdies with seven and fifth in pars, recording 50 through the first 18 holes.

Up Next: The Saginaw Valley women's golf team will look to climb the leaderboard in round two on Saturday, April 26. Play resumes at 9:00 AM, with the top four teams advancing to the semifinals medal match round in the afternoon.
