Day 1 -- Friday, April 25
AUGUSTA, Mich. -- Grand Valley State golfers occupy three of the top four positions on the individual leaderboard following the conclusion of Day 1 of the 2025 GLIAC Women's Golf Championship.
The first round of the event, held at Stonehedge North Golf Course in Augusta, was played with the benefit of perfect weather, with temperatures reaching 80 degrees.
Grand Valley State resides atop the team standiings, recording a field-best even par. The Lakers were led by Olivia Stoll, who carded a round-best 3-under, 69. Paula Badino finished two strokes back from Stoll and Megan Miron is four back in fourth place.
Wayne State ended the day in second (+10, 378), 10 strokes behind GVSU. The Warriors were headlined by Sophie Wygonik, who finished with an even-par, 72.
On the heels of the Warriors is Ferris State. The Bulldogs are currently in third (+11), one stroke back. They are followed by Davenport (+19). Purdue Northwest (+22), Saginaw Valley State (+24), Parkside (+44), Northern Michigan (+46) and Lake Superior State (+48).
The 2025 GLIAC medalist will be determined after a second round of 18-hole stroke play on Saturday. Tee times are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
Day 2 -- Saturday, April 26
AUGUSTA, Mich. -- Day 2 of the 2025 GLIAC Women's Golf Championship produced an individual medalist, four medal match play semifinalists and the pairing for the medal match final.
Grand Valley State senior Olivia Stoll led wire-to-wire, earning individual medalist honors by shooting a 4-under, 68 on Saturday morning. Combined with her round of 69 from Friday, Stoll was a title-clinching 7-under for the 36 holes (137).
Ferris State junior Lizzie Anderson finished second, nine shots back (+2, 146). Grand Valley State teammates Megan Miron and Paula Badino tied for third, posting a 3-over part for the opening 36 holes.
Transitioning to medal match play, based off the results of the two rounds of stroke play, Grand Valley State secured the top seed, finishing a collective 2-over par, 578. Ferris State (+25, 601), Wayne State (+35, 611) and Davenport (+43, 619) also qualified for the semifinals.
In Saturday's afternoon medal match round, Grand Valley State downed Davenport, 4-1, and Ferris State and Wayne State tied in a tightly-competed round, 2.5-2.5. The Bulldogs advanced to the medal match finals based on a total strokes tiebreaker.
Grand Valley State and Ferris State will meet on Sunday in an 18-hole medal match-play battle for the 2025 GLIAC championship.
Day 3 -- Sunday, April 27
AUGUSTA, Mich. -- ?Grand Valley State defeated Ferris State, 3.5-1.5, on Sunday afternoon at Stonehedge North Golf Course in a thrilling, down-to-the-wire medal match play final of the 2025 GLIAC Women's Golf Championship, securing the Lakers the conference title.
Julia Sanchez, Olivia Stoll and Charlotte Goersch won their head-to-head matches to propel GVSU to the title. The Lakers' Paula Badino tied her matchup with FSU's Kamryn Shannon to account for GVSU's 3.5 point total.
Overall, Grand Valley State's victory was razor thin, as it overall finished with just a one-stroke advantage. Olivia Stoll, the 2025 individual medalist, posted the best round for the Lakers, shooting a 2-under, 70.
