Track & Field teams begin competition at 2019 GLIAC Championships

UNIVERSITY CENTER -- The Cardinal Indoor Track & Field teams hosted day one of the 2019 GLIAC Indoor Championships on Saturday (Feb. 23) at the SVSU Fieldhouse. After the first day of competition, both SVSU teams sit in third place with the women earning 24 points and the men 21 points. 

Women

  • The Cards had a 2nd place showing in the distance medley, as Allison Dorr, Lauren Huebner, Morgan Fuerst and Jenna Keiser posted a provisional mark of 11:45.52. 
  • Andriana Higgins moved on to the finals of the 60 meter hurdles, registering a time of 8.80 seconds. Huebner will move on to the finals as well, posting the No. 5 time of 8.83 seconds.
  • Huebner had another top-three finish in the long jump. She had a distance of 5.58 meters in the event. Donna Jean Eschenbacher added a 6th place showing in the same event with a distance of 5.35 meters. 
  • Higgins added a 3rd place showing in the 200 meter dash, turning in a time of 25.02 seconds to move on to the finals. 
  • Sophia Bradley and Dominique Adams scored for the Cardinals in 5th and 6th places, respectively, in the 5,000 meter run. Bradley crossed the line in a time of 18:00.62 while Adams had a time of 18:10.09.

Men

  • Casey Williams won the GLIAC title in the long jump with a distance of 7.42 meters for a provisional qualifying mark. He was just two inches shy of tying the school record in the event as well. 
  • Jacob Netschke leads the heptathlon after day one. He racked-up 2,859 points through four events. Teammante Noah Dooley is 4th with his 2,693 point total.
  • Ryan Talbott claimed the title in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 14:40.84 for a provisional mark. Clyde Anderson III had an 8th place effort in the event as well, scoring after a time of 14:55.12.

Up Next...

The Cardinals return to action for day two of the championships on Sunday (Feb. 24) at the SVSU Fieldhouse. Events begin at 9:00 a.m. with the multi events.
