EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Saginaw Valley
State University men’s cross country team put the final
touches on its season today (Nov. 21) at the 2009 Division II
National Cross Country Championship meet in Evansville, Ind.
The Cardinals would place 20th overall out of 24 teams and were
led by sophomore Nick Ekel (Elsie,
Mich./Ovid-Elsie HS) who crossed the line with a time of 32:46
earning him 36th place. Following Ekel across the line were
seniors Cortland
Seaver (Freeland, Mich./Freeland HS), who finished 51st overall
with a time of 33:01, and Derek Stone (Metamora,
Mich./Lapeer East HS) who came in 90th overall timing in at 33:57.
Following Seaver and Stone was freshman Marion Body (Sterling
Heights, Mich./Cousino HS) who clocked in at 34:47. Rounding out
the Cards top five was senior Steve Genther
(Laingsburg, Mich./Laingsburg HS) coming in with a final time of
35:03.
The SVSU men’s cross country team ends the season with a
finish in the top-20 at the 2009 Division II National Cross Country
Championships and most runners will now move into the 2009-10
indoor track and field season which begins in early December.
