UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University cross country teams hosted the annual Red October race on Friday morning during SVSU's homecoming weekend.
The men's team won the 8K with a team score of 22 points. The Cardinals' top five men had an average finish of 26 minutes, 36 seconds with a 30-second split.
On the women's side, the team finished third with 69 points. The five SVSU women who competed averaged a 26:00 finish with a split of 3:08.
Lukas Kriesch led the way for the men's team with a PR of 26:20.5 that had him finish second in the race. Bryce Husen placed fourth with a PR of 26:34.1. Landon Mars, Braylon Petty, and Wyatt Miller had top-10 finishes with PR times. Mars finished fifth with a time of 26:34.1, Petty was seventh after his finish of 26:43.5, and Miller followed in ninth with his mark of 26:51.3. David Murphy finished 11th with a time of 26:59.3 and Isaac Zammit finished off the top seven finishes for the men with a 13th-place time of 27:36.1.
Gracie Youngblood led the women's team with a finish of 24:51.8 for sixth. Tara Szuper was eighth after crossing the finish line at 25:07.1. Clara Krupp finished 18th with a finish of 25:46.7. Kayla McIntyre was the only women's runner to set a new PR with a time of 26:14.9 to finish 20th in the 6K. Aubree Sedore was the final finisher with her time of 28:00.5 which was good for 26th.
