GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University cross country teams competed in the Calvin Knight Invitational on Saturday. The women's team won the 6K race with a score of 54 points, while the men placed sixth in the 8K with 142 points.
Alexis Tracy led the way for the Cardinal women with a seventh-place finish of 22 minutes and 48.9 seconds. Teammate Karissa Picard placed eighth after completing the race in 22:52.6. Jenna Picard gave SVSU a third top-10 finish with a time of 23:09.6 to finish 10th.
Jenna Sweeney crossed the finish line in a PR time of 23:29.6 for 15th, while Lili Lehnst crossed just behind in 16th with a time of 23:34.6, a PR for her collegiate career. Anastee Davis and Kinsie Jacques both recorded PR times with finishes of 24:04.6 and 24:17.6 for 22nd and 24th.
Braylon Petty was the top finisher for the men with a PR in the 8K after a time of 26:50.9 to finish 26th. Jaron Wyma also set a PR after a time of 26:58.1 for 28th. David Murphy finished with a time 27:07.7 for 30th.
Connor Clor was 33rd with a time of 27:15.2, also a PR. Isaac Zammit and Lukas Kriesch were 39th and 41st with times of 27:26.0 and 27:30.7. Kriesch set a PR with his time in the race. Caleb Smith finished in the top-50 with a 49th-place time of 27:39.5.
The cross country teams will travel to Romeoville, Illinois to compete at the Lewis University Crossover in two weeks on Saturday, October 12.
