Six Men and Two Women Earn All-Conference Honors at GLIAC Championships

HOUGHTON, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University cross country team had eight total runners earn all-conference honors at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championships in Houghton, Michigan on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinal men finished second in the team standings with 62 points while the women finished third with 101 points.

Corey Bowers was the top finisher for the men and earned a spot on the first-team All-GLIAC with his 10th-place finish with a time of 24 minutes, and 55 seconds. Dominic Suliman, Nick Bozarth, Thomas Hufton, Carson Hersch, and Jack Labodzinski all earned second-team all-league status with their finishes. Suliman placed 11th with a time of 24:55.1. Bozarth was 12th with a time of 24:55.6. Hufton was just two-tenths behind with a 24:55.8 for 13th. Hersch came in at 18th with a time of 25:05.1 while Labodzinski placed 20th with a time of 25:08.5.

Alexa Kaiser finished 11th in the women's race to earn First-Team All-GLIAC honors after her time of 21:42.1. Karissa Picard was 17th with a time of 22:24.4 to earn second-team all-conference.

Matt Crowley (26th, 25:31.8), Noah Verlinde (34th, 25:43.6), Adam Thomas (36th, 25:48.5), Justin Roose (40th, 25:56.0), and Jacob Walker (42nd, 26:00.5) competed for the men.

Maddie Isola (25th, 22:37.3), Lynsey Amthor (30th, 22:53.1), Alexis Tracy (36ht, 23:02.9), Jenna Picard (56th, 23:43.2), Grace Harkenrider (60th, 23:52.5), Sophia Potter (68th, 24:11.5), Aubree Sedore (72nd, 24:26.3), and Anna Alexander (82nd, 25:14.4) raced for the women.

Both Cardinal cross country teams will prepare for the NCAA Midwest Region Championship that takes place in Evansville, Indiana on Saturday, November 4.
