Stimpfel takes 3rd, Cardinal women finish 14th at NCAA Nationals

SAINT LEO, Fla. -- Members of the Saginaw Valley State University cross country program competed at the DII NCAA National Meet on Saturday morning at The Abbey Golf Course in Saint Leo, Fla.

CarLee Stimpfel finished third overall in the men's 10k race. The senior from Cass City, Mich. ran a time of 30:09.0 and earned the third All-American honor of his career. It was also his best finish at the national meet after finishing 22nd in 2019, and 26th in 2018. 

The SVSU women's team finished 14th in the team standings. Leading the Cardinals in the 6k race was Arianna Wegienka in 57th place with a time of 21:42.6.

Behind her, Alexa Keiser finished in 73rd place with a time of 21:53.0. Maddie Isola finished in 108th place with a time of 22:19.1. Lauren Buckner was 143rd with a time of 22:43.0, and Jenna Picard completed the scoring in 163rd place with a time of 22:57.2.
