Stimpfel earns individual title at Lewis University Crossover

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Saginaw Valley State University cross country teams traveled to Illinois for the Lewis University Crossover on Saturday. The women were fifth in the team standings with a score of 184, while the men finished in sixth place with a score of 171 points. 

The men were led by CarLee Stimpfel. The senior was the winner of the men's 8k race with a time of 23:55.10, winning by 37 seconds. Next to cross the line for SVSU was Ryan Talbott in 32nd place with a time of 25:36.70. Nicholas Bozarth finished in 45th place in 25:51.20. Behind him was Nicholas McArdle in 48th place with a time of 25:52.30. Completing the scoring for the Cardinals was Thomas Hufton in 53rd place with a time of 25:57.20.

In the women's 6k race, SVSU was led by Alexa Keiser in 24th place with a time of 22:51.40. Behind her Arianna Wegienka finished in 28th place with a time of 23:04.10. Next to cross the line was Maddie Isola in 34th place with a time of 23:12.10. Jenna Picard finished in 38th place with a time of 23:14.70, while Lauren Buckner completed the scoring in 75th place with a time of 23:50.80.

The Cardinals will have a week off before hosting the GLIAC Championships on Oct. 23 at the SVSU Home Course.
