LOUISVILLE, Ky.– The Saginaw Valley Men's and Women's Cross Country teams both competed well at the Greater Louisville Classic in Louisville, Kent., Saturday morning (Sept. 30). In the Divison II results, the men's team took first in their respective Blue 8000m run, while the women's team took third in the 5k Gold run.
Men's Recap- 2017 Men's Blue 8000m Run
Team Finish-1st (Average time 25:56.48)
The Saginaw Valley State Men's Cross Country team competed extremely well during Saturday's race, finishing first overall 14 division two schools that competed in the Blue race including GLIAC members Ferris State, Grand Valley State, Wayne State and recently exited member, Hillsdale. Top runners for Saginaw Valley were junior Parker Eisengruber, placing 6th overall with a time of 25:36.5, his career personal record. Sophomore Austen Mandernach, finishing 9th (25:44.2) and senior Clyde Anderson finishing 14th, with his time of 25:59.65.
Other Saginaw Valley team members finishes were Timmy Kimball (20th), Branden Bohling (21st), Rob Roest (33rd) and Tellis Donajkowski (59th).
Women's Recap- 2017 Women's 5k Gold Run
Team Finish- 4th (Average time 19:11.79)
The Cardinals competed in the 5k Gold Run of the Greater Louisville Classic, placing fourth over all Division Two competition. The team ran closely together as the top runner Morgan Fuerst finished 16th with a time of 18:47.67, Maggie Pawelczyk, 18th, 18:50.37 and Sydney Kreger, 22nd with a time of 19:15.89.
Other runners for Saginaw were Sophia Bradley (23rd), Alicia Tomlin (27th) and Darby Meinecke (30th).
Up Next...
The teams will compete in the Lansing Invitational in Lansing, Mich., on Friday Oct. 6. The first race is set for 11 a.m.
