UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's cross country team is off to compete in the 2013 NCAA Division II National Championships. The national meet, which is being held at the Plantes Ferry Athletic Complex in Spokane, Wash., is set to take place at 10:30 am on Saturday (Nov. 23).
The Cardinals enter the event ranked 11th nationally, the program's highest ranking ever. SVSU looks to improve upon last year's 12th place finish at the Championships after placing second at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Championships on November 9. Saginaw Valley competed in the 2011 championships as well, placing 13th overall.
SVSU junior runner Emily Short is one of 17 All-Americans returning from last year's championship event. Short finished 20th overall in 2012.
