GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Saginaw Valley State
University women’s cross country team competed today (Oct. 9)
in the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships held in Grand Rapids,
Michigan.
The Cardinals ran against some very tough competition including
Michigan State University, Western Michigan University, Central
Michigan University, and Grand Valley State University. Saginaw
Valley placed ninth overall with three runners in the top 50.
Leading the Cards was senior Amber Catlin (Alma,
Mich. / Alma HS) coming in with a time of 19:21, placing her 37th.
Following closely behind Catlin were sophomores Ashley Meyer (Shepherd,
Mich. / Shepherd HS) (19:25), finishing 39th, and Jean Hollerbach
(Grosse Point, Mich. / Grosse Point HS) (19:37), placing 46th.
Rounding out the Cardinals top five were sophomore Megan Pittoors
(Macomb, Mich. / Dakota HS), crossing the line at 20:19, and senior
Amanda Roache
(Mt. Morris, Mich. / Mt. Morris HS) timing in at 20:33.
Saginaw Valley competes again on Saturday (Oct. 24) when they host
the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) meet
beginning at 11:00am.
