UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team dropped a match to Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) opponent Wayne State at home in straight sets on Tuesday night. The Cardinals used a 4-0 run to take a 5-3 lead early in the first. From there, the teams traded points, but SVSU held the edge up to a 13-11 lead before WSU scored five of the next six points to pull ahead 16-14. The visitors held onto a slim lead to earn set point at 24-22 before ending the first with a kill to take the 1-0 lead.

The second set was much of the same, as the Cardinals held a 16-12 lead. The Warriors again scored five of six points to knot things up at 20 before pulling ahead to end the second with a 25-22 decision and a 2-0 lead.

Wayne State hit an impressive .444 in the third as the Warriors built a lead early and never looked back in a 25-8 victory that ended the match.
