SVSU Places 7th in GLIAC Preseason Coaches Poll

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the 2023 Volleyball Preseason Coaches Poll on Tuesday (August 22) afternoon.

The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball team finished seventh in the poll with 34 points. The Cardinals finished 2022 in the same spot after a 5-13 league campaign and a 10-20 mark overall last fall.

The 2022 GLIAC Champions Ferris State received seven first-place votes to claim the top spot for 2023 with 79 points. Grand Valley State jumped four spots to finish in second with one first-place vote and 70 points. Northern Michigan received two first-place votes and a total of 67 points for third. Michigan Tech edged Wayne State to finish fourth with 53 points while the Warriors accumulated 51 points. Davenport had 44 points for sixth while the Cardinals had 10 mores more than Lake Superior State to reflect the seventh and eighth spots. Parkside and Purdue Northwest rounded out the poll with 18 and 10 points respectively.

The Saginaw Valley State University volleyball squad will begin the 2023 season at the Clarion tournament in Pennsylvania on Thursday, August 31 against Shippensburg. Visit the volleyball schedule page for the full list of matches for 2023.
