Cardinals Send Three Student-Athletes to NCAA Division II National Championships

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Saginaw Valley State University women's indoor track & field team will be represented by three individuals at the 2014 NCAA Division II National Championships.  This year's national meet will be held at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.  Winston-Salem State University and Visit Winston-Salem will serve as co-hosts of the championships.

Juniors Emily Short and Chantelle Fondren will be joined by sophomore Anna Fochesato, as all three look to display their talents on the national stage.

The first event that will feature an SVSU student-athlete will be the Mile Run Prelims on Friday at 3:15 pm.  Fondren will be taking part in the race with hopes of qualifying for Saturday's Mile Run Final at 4:10 pm.  Fochesato will be competing in the high jump, which kicks-off on Saturday morning at 9:45 am.  Short will be the last to compete, as she races in the 3,000 meter run on Saturday at 6:25 pm.

Short competed in the 3,000 meter run at last year's championships, earning All-American honors with a fourth place finish after posting a time of 9:45.78.  It will be Fondren and Fochesato's first appearances at the indoor nationals.

Portions of the championships will be streamed live on www.NCAA.com.
