BAY CITY, Mich. - Saginaw Valley State University freshman Taylor Stepanski (Alpena, Mich. / Alpena HS) and Hillsdale College senior Kayla Caldwell (Tuscarawas, Ohio / Indian Valley) have been chosen as the GLIAC Women's Indoor Track & Field "Athletes of the Week."

Taylor Stepanski, an All-American as part of Saginaw Valley's Indoor Distance Medley Relay team, has continued her success into the Outdoor season.

Stepanski earned first place honors in the 800 meter run at the Michigan State Spartan Invitational as she crossed the line in 2:12.14, less than three seconds shy of the school record set by Rose Willis in 2003 (2:09.86).

Stepanski's mark is currently the eighth best performance in the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field season.

This is the second GLIAC "Athlete of the Week" award that Stepanski has earned during her freshman campaign. The first came back on February 6 after she took first place in the Indoor 800 meter run at the SVSU-GVSU dual meet.

The SVSU track and field student-athletes will be back in action next Saturday (April 13) at Northwood University for the Northwood Open.
