Wright Breaks School Record at Day 1 of the Mt. SAC Relays

WALNUT, Calif. -  The Saginaw Valley State University women's track and field team competed yesterday (4/19) in day one of the Mt. San Antonio College hosted Mt. SAC Relays.

The Lady Cardinals were led by senior Alycia Wright (Macomb, Mich./Lutheran North HS) once again this weekend as she set a new school record in the 1,500-meter run crossing the line at 4:26.27, which is a NCAA DII Automatic Quailifying time.  Also competing in the 1,500-meter run was teammate Ashley Meyer (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd HS) who timed in at 4:37.88 just two seconds shy of a NCAA DII Provisional Qualifying time.  Distance runners Lauren Hill (Flat Rock, Mich./Flat Rock HS) and Megan Pittoors (Macomb, Mich./Dakota HS) both earned top-finishes, Hill in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and Pittoors in the 10,000-meter run, recording times of 11:45.25 and 36:28.64, respectively.

The Lady Cardinals will be back in action again today (4/20) when they compete in day two of the 54th annual Mt. SAC Relays.
