31 Cardinals Receive All-Academic Recognition

BAY CITY, Mich.--The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has announced the 2012 Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field Academic Teams. Saginaw Valley was represented by 13 male and 18 female student-athletes on the achievement list. Criteria states the student-athlete must be an active member on the roster at the end of the season, not a freshman or a first year transfer student. 

Academic Excellence Teams are comprised of student athletes that have a cumulative grade point average of 3.50-4.0.

The Cardinals were represented by twelve women and five men on the 2012 GLIAC Academic Excellence Team. The honorees for women's track and field include Lauren Hill (Flat Rock, Mich./Flat Rock HS), Ashley Meyer (Shepherd, Mich./Shepherd HS), Megan Pittoors (Macomb, Mich./Dakota HS), Stephanie McMall (Bay City, Mich./Bay City Western HS), Chelsea Savage (Monroe, Mich./St. Mary's Catholic Central), Amanda Paris (Hemlock, Mich./Hemlock HS) Dana Stolicker (Deckerville, Mich./Deckerville HS), Kelsey Bartolini (Southgate, Mich.), Angela Brooks (Ortonville, Mich./Brandon HS), Jessi Craun (Hemlock, Mich.), Diamond Taylor (Southfield, Mich.) and Elizabeth Willford (Gladwin, Mich.). The men's track and field honorees include Greg Baade (Warren, Mich./De La Salle Collegiate), Kyle Henderson (Freeland, Mich./Freeland HS), Tony Peel (Swartz Creek, Mich./Swartz Creek HS), Eric Spitz (Holt, Mich.) and Justin Walker (Clio, Mich./Birch Run HS).

Alycia Wright (Macomb Township, Mich./Lutheran High North), JoAnne Carter (Goodrich, Mich.), Sarah Kaweicki (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS), Kayleigh Nelson (Standish, Mich./Standish-Sterling HS), Elizabeth Sampson (Willis, Mich./Lincoln HS) and Ashley Schropp (Saginaw, Mich./Heritage HS) were named to the 2012 GLIAC All-Academic Team for women's track and field, while the SVSU men were represented by Jonathan Wetters (Essexville, Mich./Garber HS), Brandon Bishop (Burt, Mich./Chesaning HS), Josh Arnold (Clio, Mich.), Brian Bott (Buckley, Mich./Kingsley HS), Raetron Bryant (Burton, Mich./Artherton HS), Lee Chiatalas (Fenton, Mich./Linden HS), Jon Roosen (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and Matt Wilkinson (Mt. Clemens, Mich./De La Salle HS) on the recognition list.

All-Academic Teams are comprised of those student-athletes that meet criteria and carry a cumulative grade point average of 3.0-3.49.
