UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- Saginaw Valley State University senior tennis player Adriana Barrio was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for the first time in her career when the league office announced the awards on Tuesday evening.

Adriana Barrio won both of her matches for the week at the number one singles spot to help the Cardinals sweep the weekend and move to 2-1 in GLIAC play. She started the week with a three-set victory against Michigan Tech before a 6-2, 6-0 in her match against Lake Superior State.

The Cardinal tennis team is on the road this week with a matchup against Ferris State on Sunday, March 30. The match is slated for a noon start.
