HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University tennis team had a strong showing at the two-day Hillsdale Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday, September 28-29.
The Cardinals had a strong showing led by the sister duo of Nicoletta Diamantopoulos and Anastasia Diamantopoulos remained unbeaten this Fall with three more wins during the four-team tournament to put the record to 11-0 during their Fall debut.
The sisters defeated Lawrence Tech's Jacqueline Alcocer and Paola Herrrera by a score of 6-1. They then defeated the University of Northwestern Ohio pair Telma Hereros and Agathe Vaillant, 6-2. The final match came against Hillsdale double Libby McGivern and Courtney Rittel with a final result of 7-5.
Lydia Liong and Amelia Dickson also went 3-0 at the invitational with wins of 6-3 (Lawrence Tech), 7-5 (UNOH), and 6-0 (Hillsdale).
Anastasia Diamantopoulos had a perfect weekend as she added a 3-0 outing in singles after defeating UNOH's Agathe Vallant (8-4), Lawrence Tech's Jacqueline Alcocfer (8-2), and a 6-1, 6-0, result against Courtney Rittel.
