Women's Swim Team Competes Against Lake Erie and Ursuline

GENEVA, Ohio - The Saginaw Valley State University women's swimming team traveled to compete against Lake Erie College and Ursuline College on Friday night (10/24) at the Spire Center in Geneva, Ohio.  A couple weeks after posting a pair of victories in the program's first ever meet, the ladies were impressive once more in Friday's competition.

The 200 Yard Medley Relay team took a first place finish, as Rebeca Martinez, Tyara Green, Carley Buechner and Melanie Soenksen posted a time of 1:53.76.

Shaked Bachar claimed victory in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:13.11 while Martinez added another top finish with a mark of 1:00.07 in the 100 Yard Backstroke.

Martinez would win the 200 Yard Butterfly as well, finishing with a time of 2:24.80.

Buechner claimed the 100 Yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:10.59 and Breanne Bell won the 100 Yard Freestyle with a mark of 58.38.

The Cards claimed the top two spots in the 50 Yard Freestyle as well, as Green was first with a mark of 25.63 and Bell second at 26.42.  Green added a top finish in the 100 Yard Butterfly as well, finishing first with a mark of 1:06.07.

Saginaw Valley remains in Ohio and will compete against Urbana University on Saturday (10/25) in a meet that begins at 4:00 pm.
