ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer program traveled to the west side of the state Sunday afternoon to face No. 24 Grand Valley State University. The Cardinals (5-4-3, 2-3-3 GLIAC) fell 5-0 to the Lakers (9-1-3, 6-1-2 GLIAC).
SVSU was outshot 19-6 as the Lakers led in shots on goal 12-4. Lainey Garbarz started in goal playing 77:47 allowing four goals on 10 shots. Kennedi Pugh took over for the final 12:13 allowing one goal on two shots.
Stephanie Strong and Madi Bajis led the Cardinals offensively with two shots, one on goal each. Lauryn Fracassi and Emma Bradley had one shot on target as well.
Grand Valley opened the scoring in the 7th minute before the explosive second half. The Lakers scored three goals in 12 minutes from the 66th to the 78th minute marks. Grand Valley had also scored in the 48th minute as well. Vesna Dennison scored the second and the fifth for her first two goals of the season.
