Marquette, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer had some last-minute heroics Friday afternoon against Northern Michigan University. Both goals in a 1-1 tie were scored in the final couple of minutes with Solana Kelly's tying goal being scored with 41 seconds left.

The offensive numbers were low for both teams in the first half with Northern leading in shots 5-3. Kennedi Pugh started in goal for SVSU and saved eight of the nine shots she faced.

In the second half, Northern Michigan turned up the pressure. They led in shots 12-4 for a game total of 17-7. Nothing got by the goalkeepers of either team for the first 88 minutes. Angelina Perritano took advantage of a free kick in the 89th minute to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead. However, just over a minute later, Saginaw Valley converted on one of their three corner kicks of the game. Madi Bajis swung it in on the corner kick and a loose ball created a 3-on-1 for SVSU and Kelly found the back of the net with under a minute left.

With the tie, SVSU women's soccer sits at 9-3-4 overall and 6-2-4 in conference play. The Cardinals are in the fourth spot of eight teams in the GLIAC and have clinched one of the top four spots making sure that they host their first game in the GLIAC tournament.
