UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's soccer program celebrated their 2023 senior class but fell on the pitch to Davenport University 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. The loss snaps a nine-game unbeaten streak for SVSU including three ties and a six-game win streak; the last loss came against the Panthers in mid-September.

Saginaw Valley celebrated seven seniors on Sunday including Campbell Gibson, Carlee Davis, Madi Saleh, Sarah Fredrick, Tiffani Torres, Jensen Taylor, and Larissa Barnett.

Davenport got on the board early with a free kick six minutes into the match. Saginaw Valley had a resounding push back after trailing 1-0 as they started tallying up shots in the first half including five corner kick opportunities. The Panther defense stood strong and eventually turned the defense into offense in the 39th minute stealing another goal.

With a 2-0 advantage at the halftime, Davenport's midfielder Olivia Bosworth scored her second goal of the game three minutes into the second half. The Panthers scored their fourth of the game seven minutes later as their surge continued. After the shots favored SVSU 8-5 in the first half, DU led in the second 10-6 to total 15-14 over the Cardinals.

Kennedi Pugh started her second straight game in goal and made four saves on the eight shots on goal she faced. Offensively, Jensen Taylor led the attack with five shots and Sarah Fredrick had four with three of them finding their target. Davenport had seven fouls in both halves as they led in that category 14-6.

The Cardinals have three regular season games remaining consisting of two road games next weekend followed by a final home game against Ferris State in November as they push for the GLIAC playoffs. SVSU heads to the upper peninsula with matches against Northern Michigan on Friday at 3:00 PM and Michigan Tech on Sunday at 12:00 PM.
