CANTON, Ohio – The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf team competed at the Cav Classic on Monday, April 14, and Tuesday, April 15. The Cardinals finished fourth out of nine teams with a two-round total of 651 at Glenmoore Country Club.
Brook Herbstreit led the way, finishing ninth out of 56 golfers. She carded rounds of 78 (+6) and 79 (+7) for a total score of 157 (+13). Megan Thiravong was five strokes behind, posting a 79 (+7) and an 83 (+11) for a total of 162 (+18), tying for 15th. Hannah Hauser followed with a 78 (+6) and an 86 (+14), finishing 20th with a two-round total of 164 (+20).
Megan Kozlowski and Christina Nagy rounded out the team. Kozlowski recorded consistent rounds of 85 (+13) for a total of 170 (+26), while Nagy shot 83 (+11) and 88 (+16) to finish at 171 (+27). Andie Martin competed individually, finishing with a total score of 177 (+33) after shooting 84 (+12) and 93 (+21).
As a team, SVSU ranked fifth on par threes, and fourth on both par fours and par fives. The Cardinals also tied for the second-most pars in the tournament with 93, just nine behind the leader.
Up Next: The Cardinals will take nine days off before heading to Gull Lake, Michigan, for the GLIAC Championships. The four-day tournament will be held at Stonehedge North at Gull Lake from Thursday, April 24, through Sunday, April 27.
