Women’s Golf SVSU Spring Invitational Cancelled due to Weather and Conditions

GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf program was set to host the SVSU Spring Invitational at Cherry Blossom Golf Course in Georgetown, Kentucky Saturday and Sunday. 13 teams started their first round on Saturday, March 15 and got through 11-16 holes before the storms rolled in. Before golf could resume to finish the round and play the second on Sunday, March 16, the tournament was cancelled due to weather and conditions.

SVSU women's golf had two teams consisting of nine golfers. Team A included Megan Thiravong, Brook Herbstreit, Hannah Hauser, Megan Kozlowski, and Andie Martin. Team B included Alivia Ligrow, Christina Nagy, Aileen Cosentino, and Anna McClure.

Team A was in fifth place with Thiravong leading the way in second place out of 71 golfers. She had shot 65 (+2) through 16 holes. Herbstreit followed with a 68 (+8) through 15 holes. Hauser and Kozlowski both shot 69 (+9) through their 15 holes each. Martin rounded out the team with a 73 (+13) through 15 holes as well.

Team B was led by Ligrow with a 56 (+8) through 12 holes. Nagy followed with 65 (+10) through 14 holes. Cosentino shot 55 (+12) through 11 holes and McClure followed with a 65 (+14) through 13 holes.

Up Next: Saginaw Valley women's golf has nearly two weeks off before heading to Laconia, Indiana. On Monday, March 31 and Tuesday, April 1, the team heads to the Findianapolis Intercollegiate hosted by Findlay and UIndy at the Chariot Run Golf Course.
