AUGUSTA, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf program wrapped up their fall competition with two rounds at Stonehedge North for the Davenport Invitational. The Cardinals took home first place as they shot rounds of 296 (+8) and 295 (+7) for a total of 591 (+15).
The team of Megan Thiravong, Brook Herbstreit, Christina Nagy, Hannah Hauser, and Andie Martin set the 18-hole team record on Saturday with their score of 296 and rebroke it on Sunday with their score of 295.
Thiravong was even on the weekend to tie for second place. She shot two rounds of 72 with six birdies for a score of 144 (E). Herbstreit was two strokes behind, finishing tied for fourth with rounds of 75 and 71 with four birdies for a total of 146 (+2). Nagy tied for ninth out of 73 golfers as she shot back-to-back rounds of 75 with a final of 150 (+6). Nagy finished with six birdies and an eagle as she shot a hole in one on hole two in the second round. This is SVSU women's golf's second hole in one of the season. Hauser rounded out the team scoring with rounds of 74 and 77 to tie for 12th with a total of 151 (+7). She had five birdies on the weekend. Martin shot rounds of 86 and 84 for a total of 170 (+26).
SVSU had two individuals as well as Megan Kozlowski finished 45th with rounds of 86 and 81 for a total of 167 (+23). Anna McClure capped off the weekend with rounds of 87 and 86 for a total of 173 (+29).
