GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf program hosted the SVSU Spring Invitational at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown, Kentucky this weekend. The teams played two rounds on the 18-hole course between Saturday and Sunday.
The Cardinals tied for third place out of 14 as a team. Mandy Ehrlich led shooting 10 over with rounds of 76 and 78 for a total of 154 tying her for sixth overall. Brook Herbstreit and Sydney Wesson both shot 156 to tie for 10th place. Herbstreit shot rounds of 75 and 81 while Wesson shot 82 and a team-low 74. Megan Thiravong shot 81 and 80 for a total of 161 with Megan Kozlowski rounding out the team with rounds of 84 and 80. Andie Martin played individually and finished with a total of 166 with rounds of 78 and 88.
Herbstreit tied for the best average on par threes shooting even on the weekend. Ehrlich shot four over on par fours to tie her for seventh overall out of 85 players. She also led with the most birdies with six. As a team, SVSU was one short of the pars lead shooting 98 in total. Herbstreit led the way with 22 pars. The Cardinals rounded out the team performance tied for second on par fours, third on par threes, and fourth on par fives shooting 33 over, 20 over, and 18 over respectively.
Women's golf has a couple weeks off before getting back on the golf course. April 1-2 they head to Chariot Run Golf Course in Laconia, Indiana for the FIndianapolis Intercollegiate Hosted by Findlay and UIndy.
