Women's Golf Finishes Ninth at Cav Classic

CANTON, Ohio, - The Saginaw Valley State University women's golf team traveled to Glenmoor Country Club to compete in the 36-hole Cav Classic hosted by Walsh University. SVSU finished the tournament in ninth place overall, just four strokes shy of sixth. The team finished the tournament fourth in par four scoring and notched 74 pars altogether.

Rachael Krieger led the way for the Cardinals with an opening round 78 and finished her tournament with an 85 shooting 163 on the week which placed her T21. Krieger shot just eight over through the two days on par four holes. Megan Thiravong placed 31st overall while shooting 169 for the tournament with rounds of 82 and 87.  Megan Kozlowski finished one stroke behind Thiravong firing off rounds of 86 and 84 for a total of 170. Kozlowski finished T33 despite leading the team in par three scoring, shooting just three over on the short holes through 36 holes of play. Emily O'Brien rounded out the scoring for the Cardinals finishing T39 with a total score of 173. O'Brien shot off rounds of 85 and 88 respectively.

UP NEXT

The team is back in action on Friday for the GLIAC Championship Stroke Play Tournament. They will compete in 36 holes of stroke play starting Friday morning and will need to place in the top four squads to make it to the weekend for match play.
