Ava Locklear Earns GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball freshman center Ava Locklear was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) office on Monday.

Locklear posted double-doubles in both wins over Lake Superior State and Ferris State this weekend with 12 points and 10 rebounds against the Lakers and 11 points and 10 rebounds against the Bulldogs. She finished the regular season with six double-doubles with 197 rebounds for an average of 7.0 per game, good for seventh in the GLIAC. Locklear added three blocks over the two games and is third in the GLIAC with 1.3 per game and second over with 37 blocks on the year.

This is the third Player of the Week, second defensive, for the Cardinals this season. It is the first time for Locklear in her career.
