UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball junior guard Lydia Meredith was named Defensive Player of the Week by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) office on Monday.
Meredith led the Cardinals defensively with 12 rebounds, six steals, and three blocks in their two wins prior to the holiday break. The six steals increases her lead in the GLIAC, averaging 2.7 steals per game. Meredith also scored 15 crucial points including 10 made free throws in a three-point win against Thomas More on Thursday.
This is the first Player of the Week award for Meredith and the Cardinals this season. It is the third time Meredith has earned Defensive Player of the Week in her career after being honored twice last season.
