Saginaw Valley State University women's basketball sophomore Lydia Meredith was named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. Meredith played a key role in the Cardinals two wins last week beating Pitt.-Johnstown 80-57 and Cedarville 68-36. The Portland, Michigan native had eight steals with five against the Mountain Cats and three against the Yellow Jackets. Meredith is third in the GLIAC in steals and the five steals against Pitt.-Johnstown ties a career single-game high for Meredith tying the five she had against number one ranked Ashland three days prior. Meredith has 13 steals on the season averaging 2.6 a game. The Cardinals average 10 steals a game and are third in the GLIAC in that category.
