Zarycki Named to D2CCA All-American Third-Team

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – On Sunday, the Division II Conference Commissioners Association announced Kaitlyn Zarycki, as a third team All-American. The NCAA Division II sports information directors from institutions and conference offices voted for the teams.

Zarycki, the GLIAC Conference Player of the year, ranked eighth in points per game for the entire country scoring 21.3 per game. In addition, she averaged 5.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists while shooting 91.5 percent from the charity stripe. Zarycki led the GLIAC in free throw percentage (90.8%), steals per game, and finished the season fourth in total points despite missing four games with a hand injury. Highlights from her immaculate regular season included breaking the single-game scoring record totaling 44 points on Senior Day over Davenport University and ending the season with 50 consecutive made free throws.

Coach, Jennifer Pruett had this to say about Zarycki's impressive addition to her awards case,

"I cannot express in words how proud I am of the accomplishments that keep coming in for Z. Not only is she a great basketball player, a great teammate, a great student and a great athlete, but she is humble and she has worked really hard to deserve these awards. This team was special this year because of the leadership of our senior class. We had different leaders that helped us grow on and off the court. Z was a lead by example captain who showed us how hard you need to work in order to accomplish your goals and dreams. Thank you Z, for leading us in that way. You grew a lot over your four years as a Cardinal. I, along with your teammates and coaches, are incredibly proud of you."

Zarycki's accomplishments continue to grow for the Cardinals, she currently sits at over 1500 points and will look to become the first Cardinal to break 2000 points in her final season with the team.
