GLIAC – Saginaw Valley State University senior guard Kaitlyn Zarycki was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) women's basketball player of the week on Monday afternoon.
Zarycki led the Cardinals to a 2-0 showing on the week, including two performances of 20+ points scoring. She was three steals short of a double-double in the 61-54 win over Walsh on the first day of the Wayne State Warrior Holiday Tournament. Zarycki was four assists short of a triple-double in the 72-55 win over Carson-Newman on the tournament's final day. The Senior from Niles, Michigan, shot 52.6% from the floor (20-38) with 13 rebounds and nine steals in two games.
This is the fourth conference weekly award for Zarycki's career. It is also the first player of the week award for the SVSU women's basketball program this season.
Zarycki will lead the Cardinals tomorrow night in a game against Tiffin University inside James E. O'Neill Jr. Arena at 6:00 PM.
