Cardinals Send Seven to Three Last Chance Meets

The Saginaw Valley State University track and field team sent seven student-athletes to last chance meets this weekend as the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships approach.

Karissa Picard competed in Joliet, Illinois, in the St. Francis (Ill.) Fighting Chance Invite and hit an NCAA D2 provisional time in the 1500m with a PR finish of four minutes, 29.63 seconds to place seventh in the race.

Four Cardinals competed in the University of Michigan's Len Paddock Open. Jordon Brown highlighted the competition with a win in the 400m with a time of 47.81. Nate Niederquell set a PR in the 400 hurdles with a time of 54.43 to finish in third place. Kabanu Witherspoon ran the 100m with a time of 10.79 to place seventh. Jenna Picard raced in the 400m and the 800m. Picard placed  13th in the 800 with a time of 2:18.05, and she was 14th with a finish of 1:01.25.

Jacob Walker and Jack Lobodzinski ran the 5K at the Baldwin Wallace Harrison Twilight Meet. Walker placed eighth with a time of 14:34.21, and Lobodzinski finished 10th with a time of 14:42.10.
