Sarah Gray Leads Heptathlon After Day One of GLIAC Outdoor Championships

ALLENDALE, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University junior Sarah Gray leads the women's heptathlon after day one of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) outdoor championships on Wednesday. Gray finished the first four events with 2,647 points.

Gray set two PRs in events, including one in the 200-meter dash, where she won the race in 26.13 seconds. Her other PR game in the 100m hurdles was with a time of 15.28, where she finished second. She placed third in the shot put with a toss of 9.39m and seventh in the high jump at 1.45m.

Olivia Carpenter totaled 2,644 points to sit in second place after day one. Carpenter won the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.52. She set a PR in the 200m with a time of 26.20, where she placed second in that event. She was fourth in the high jump at 1.45m and eighth in the shot put with a heave of 7.88m.

Abby Kissling is eighth with 2,195 points. She was sixth in the 100m hurdles after crossing the finish line in 16.45 seconds. She placed seventh in the 200m with a PR time of 27.29. She completed the day with a ninth-place showing in the high jump (1.39m) and seventh in the shot put (1.75m).

The women's heptathlon will conclude on day two with the long jump, javelin, and 800m run.
