Cardinals Highlight WashU Distance Carnival With Two Provisional Times

ST. LOUIS – Representatives of the Saginaw Valley State University track and field team ran in the Washington University Distance Carnival on Thursday and Friday, March 27-28. The Cardinal men had two NCAA Division II provisional times set, with one in the 5k and the other in the 10k. Six Cardinals set personal best times in their races while two finished in the top 10 and four finished in the top 25 of their events.

Jack Lobodzinski was the highest finisher among SVSU runners, placing seventh in the 5k. His 14 minutes and 5.21 seconds were an NCAA DII provisional mark and a personal best.

Nick McArdle also set a new PR on his way to hitting a D2 provisional time in the 10k with a 15th-best finish of 29:56.91.

Jenna Picard led the way on the women's side with an eighth-place finish in the 800 after a time of 2:14.17.

Corey Bowers placed 22nd in the 1500 with a time of 3:52.68, and Karissa Picard finished top-30 in the 1500 after crossing the finish in 4:40.09.

Jacob Walker was 27th in the 10k with a time of 30:07.95, setting a new PR for his collegiate career in the process. He was followed immediately by Noah Verlinde in 28th with his own personal best time of 30:10.11.

Adam Thomas and Tyler Bays added two more PR finishes in the 10k with times of 30:15.70 and 31:10.30, respectively.

Alexis Tracy had the best finish for SVSU in the 5k after clocking a 18:14.64 time in the race.

Jenna Sweeney followed Tracy with a time of 18:25.48 in a different section of the 5k races.

Lukas Kriesch ran the 10k for the first time in his career to set his best time at 32:46.24.

Kinsie Jacques ran the 5k in 19:24.10, while Lili Lehnst completed the distance in 19:34.17.

UP NEXT: The Cardinal track and field teams are scheduled to send athletes to Michigan State, Grand Valley State, and Oakland this next weekend.
