MARION, IND. – The Saginaw Valley State University track and field team began the 2025 outdoor season at the IWU Polar Bear Classic in Marion, Indiana on Friday and Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals won three events total with both men's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams winning their race and Sawyer Moloy earning the only individual win in the high jump.
Moloy hit an NCAA Division II provisional mark with his high jump victory after clearing the bar at 2.15m.
The men's 4x100 relay team consisting of KJ Jackson II, Quin Broussard, Kabanu Witherspoon, and Jordon Brown finished first after a time of 42.00. Broussard, Witherspoon, and Brown all ran the 4x400 relay race along with Ryan Mixon. That winning time was 3:20.99.
The men enjoyed one second-place finish when Nate Niederquell finished the 400 hurdles with a time of 55.77. Madisyn Lundquist placed second on the women's side after clearing the bar in the pole vault at 3.50m.
Lukas Ray recorded the final top-three finish for SVSU after he threw 16.04m in the shot put.
Noan Berg contributed a top-five finish after finish the shot put in fifth with a toss of 15.25m.
Nolan Shaw and Sarah Gray completed top-10 marks in their events with Shaw throwing the hammer with a PR distance of 51.78m for seventh place. Gray finished the 200 in 27.27 seconds to claim seventh. She also competed in the javelin and placed 19th with a best throw of 21.26m.
