UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley University track and field teams finished second and third in the team standings after the completion of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday. The Cardinal men tallied 93 points for second place while the women totaled 82 points for third.
Sawyer Moloy claimed the GLIAC Championship in the high jump after clearing the bar at an NCAA Provisional height of 2.07m. Chaniya Madison repeated as the women's 60-meter dash champion after finishing the final race with a PR time of 7.55 seconds.
Xavier Santiago and Jack Lobodzinski earned a podium appearance with second-place finishes in the high jump and the 3K. Santiago cleared 2.07m and Lobodzinki crossed the finish line in 8:13.39, both of those marks were NCAA provisional finishes. Karissa Picard was second in the women's mile with a PR time of four minutes, 52.75 seconds. Picard's finish earned her a podium appearance and was an NCAA provisional time.
The men had three fourth-place finishes with Lukas Ray throwing the shot put 15.85m for one of those finishes. Corey Bowers set a PR in the mile with a time of 4:10.19 for fourth, and the men's 4x400 Relay of Nate Niederquell, Ryan Mixon, Matt Canales, and Chris Holt clocked a 3:20.68 to finish fourth.
On the women's side, Olivia Carpenter was fourth in the 60 hurdles with her PR time of 8.83 seconds. Angelina Delbosque had a fourth-place showing in the 200m after setting a new PR in the event with her time of 24.87. Delbosque also was sixth in the women's 60m final with a time of 7.81. Freshman thrower Janae Hudson claimed fourth in the shot put after a personal best heave of 13.07m.
Five more Cardinals had individual top-five finishes (three for the men, two for the women). Kenny Lewis set a PR in the mile of 4:10.52 to place fifth, Jacob Walker also had a PR in the 3K with a time of 8:18.19, and Nolan Berg was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 15.69m. Trinity Greer set a new PR in the 400m with a finish of 56.76 to earn fifth. Jenna Picard was fifth in the 800m after crossing the finish at 2:14.3. Picard joined Makayla Fuerst, Madisyn Lundquist, and Mallory Farmer for the women's 4x400 and earned fifth in that race after a time of 3:58.24.
The SVSU track and field teams finished the GLIAC Indoor Championship meet with eight podiums, five NCAA provisional marks, and a new school record.
