Olivia Carpenter Claims GLIAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – Saginaw Valley State University senior Olivia Carpenter was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Women's Track Athlete of the Week by the conference on Tuesday morning.

Carpenter had an impressive showing at the Saginaw Valley State University Tune Up Meet this past weekend. Carpenter set a new personal best in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.89 in the preliminary race of the event. That time was the fastest in the preliminary heats. She also had a third-place finish in the women's high jump after clearing the bar at 1.48m, just .03m off her personal best mark.

This is Carpenter's first GLIAC Athlete of the Week award in her collegiate career. It is also the first weekly award for the Cardinal women's track and field team and the second one for the SVSU Track and Field program.

Saginaw Valley State University is set to host the GLIAC Indoor Championship Meet this Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2 inside the SVSU Fieldhouse.
