UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University track and field teams hosted the annual Tune Up meet on Friday afternoon. The Cardinals recorded five event wins and 17 top-five finishes at the meet.
Trinity Greer highlighted the women's team with her time of 57.04 seconds in the 400m that won the event. Xavier Santiago and Sawyer Moloy tied for first in the High Jump as they both cleared the bar at 2.12m. Matthew Canales won the 800m after his finish of 1:52.57 for the fourth SVSU win. Nick Bozarth was the final event winner with a win in the 3k after a time of 8:46.02.
KJ Jackson II and Carson Hersch both claimed the runner-up spot in their respective events. Jackson crossed the finish line during the 60m dash with a time of 6.97, while Hersch finished the 5k in 15:13.92 for his second-place showing. Jackson also had a top 10 finish in the 200m after a time of 22.56 earned him sixth.
Olivia Carpenter, Janae Hudson, and Taylor Moyer claimed third-place finishes on the women's side. Carpenter cleared the high jump bar at 1.48m. Hudson threw the shot put 13.00m and Moyer clocked a 58.55 time in the 400m. Justin Roose and Corey Bowers were third for the men with Roose finishing the mile in 4:14.96 and Bowers completing the 800m in 1:53.19.
Bryce Husen placed fourth in the 800m with a time of 1:54.86. Alicia Fields had the same finish in the 60m with a time of 8.03 seconds. Fields also earned eighth in the 200m with her time of 26.43.
Three Cardinals were fifth in their events with Isaac Zammit earning his in the 5k with a time of 15:32.22. Shane Siterlet placed fifth in the 800m with a finish of 1:55.38. Sarah Gray was the lone representative on the women's team to earn fifth with her 9.60 finish during the 60 hurdles.
UP NEXT: The Saginaw Valley State University track and field teams will host the GLIAC Indoor Championships next weekend. The two-day championship meet will begin on Saturday, March 1, and Sunday, March 2.
