Track and Field has Four NCAA Provo Marks at GVSU and Tiffin

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University track and field team traveled to Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Tiffin, Ohio to compete in the GVSU Big Meet and the Robinson Family Open over the weekend. Four Cardinals achieved NCAA Division II Provisional marks at the two meets along with three event wins and 10 top-five finishes.

Karissa Picard hit a PR in the mile at GVSU with a provo mark after an event-winning time of 4:55.51. Xavier Santiago also hit a provo height of 2.07m during a win in the high jump at Tiffin. Trevor Culpepper hit a provo mark in the 60m after finishing 6.79 to earn second place at Tiffin. Jacob Walker also recorded a provo time with his top-10 finish in the 5000m at GVSU with a time of 14:19.61.

Lukas Ray won the shot put at Tiffin with a toss of 16.28m for the final Cardinal event win of the weekend. Nolan Berg was third in the same event with a heave of 15.59m.

Adam Thomas placed third in his leg of the 5K at the Big Meet with a time of 14:34.25.

Noah Shaw 6th weight throw 15.84m / 10th shot put 13.46m

Bryce Husen earned fourth at GVSU with his finish of 1:54.79 in the 800m. Jenna Sweeney also placed fourth at the Big Meet in the 5K with a PR of 18:20.06.

Nick McArdle was fifth in the 5K at GVSU with a PR of 14:27.23. Deven Varela was the final top-five finisher for the Cardinals after clearing a height of 4.25m in the pole vault at Tiffin for fifth.
