UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University track and field teams competed on Friday and Saturday of this week. The men's team traveled to the Lewis Invitational on Friday night while the women hosted the annual W-C-W Tri Meet versus Wayne State and Northern Michigan on Saturday afternoon.
Lukas Ray was the lone winner for the men at Lewis in the shot put with a winning mark of 16.64m. The throw was a PR for him and the 30th-best throw in NCAA Division II. Ray also competed in the weight throw, finishing 15th with a toss of 13.17m.
Nolan Berg and Xavier Santiago each captured third place in their respective events. Berg's throw in the shot put of 15.39m earned him his placing while Santiago cleared the high jump bar at 1.92m. He had a top-10 finish in the triple jump as well when he earned a mark of 11.97m in that event.
Noah Shaw finished fourth in the shot put with a PR of 15.32m. He placed sixth in the weight throw with a mark of 15.13m. Alex Stoll was the final men's team member to finish top five at 8.74 seconds in the 60m hurdles.

The women's team finished third at the W-C-W Tri-Meet with a final team total of 85.5 points.
Three Cardinal women won events with freshman Janae Hudson leading the way with a win in the shot put and a second-place showing in the weight throw. Hudson won the shot with a toss of 12.22m while her weight throw of 14.36m was the second-best mark. Chaniya Madison won the 60m dash with a time of 7.60, and Sophia Thelen won the 200m after crossing the line at 24.99 seconds.
Olivia Carpenter finished top-five in the 60 hurdles after a time of 8.98 and grabbed a top-10 placing in the high jump in sixth after clearing the bar at 1.42m. Angelina Delbosque collected second place in the 200m after clocking at 25.15. Trinity Greer, Jenna Picard, and Madisyn Lundquist were the final three women to earn second place. Greer finished the 300m in 40.36 for placing, while Picard crossed the finish in the mile at 5:03.80. Lundquist cleared 3.45m in the pole vault and finished eighth in the 300m at 42.18.
Karissa Picard finished the 800m in 2:16.70 for third. The 4x300m Relay consisting of Alicia Fields, Madisyn Lundquist, Taylor Moyer, and Makayla Fuerst was third at 2:48.05.
Taylor Moyer also grabbed fourth in the 400m after a time of 59.12 seconds. Emelia MacDonald was also fourth after her finish of 19:08.92 in the 5K.
Mallory Farmer finished just behind Moyer in the 400m for fifth with her time of 1:00.51. Sarah Gray rounded out the top five in the 60 hurdles with her time of 9.45. Jenna Sweeney was the final top-five finisher for the Cardinals at 5:13.33 in the mile.
