UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University track and field team hosted the annual Doug Hansen Open on Friday afternoon. The Cardinal women's team won eight events while the men gathered wins in seven.
Janae Hudson led the way on women's side winning both the weight throw and shot put. Hudson marked a new PR in the weight after a best throw of 14.16m. She won the shot put with a toss of 12.12m.
Five other women's student-athletes claimed wins with Emelia MacDonald winning the mile with a PR time of five minutes, 30.05 seconds. Angelina Delbosque finished the 60m dash fastest after a time of 7.83. Clara Krupp won the 800m with a time of 2:24.02. Sophia Thelen crossed the finish line in 25.43 seconds to win the 200m. Madisyn Lundquist was the final individual winner for the women when she matched her PR in the pole vault at 3.42m.
Sawyer Moloy cleared the high jump bar at a PR height of 2.15m to win the event. Moloy would also finish second in the long jump after setting a mark of 6.41m in that event.
Braylon Silvas matched his PR in the long jump to win at 6.49m. Alex Stoll won his event after an 8.81 finish in the 60m hurdles. Trevor Culpepper finished fastest in the men's 60m with a time of 6.86. Wyatt Miller won the 800m just above the two-minute mark, but he set a PR with his finish of 2:00.34. Matthew Gazzarato hit a PR in the 200m with 22.82 to win the race. He also had a third-place showing in the 60m with a PR time 7.06.
SVSU teams won both the women's and men's 4x400 relay races. The women's B squad consisting of Mallory Farmer, Sophia Thelen, Angelina Delbosque, and Madisyn Lundquist won with a time of 4:04.58. The men's A team of Ryan Mixon, Chris Holt, Trevor Culpepper, and Alex Stoll finished in 3:29.16 to win the men's race.
The SVSU women's A 4x400 team of Makayla Fuerst, Alicia Fields, Tori Henson, and Trinity Greer took second with a time of 4:04.79. The C team of Taylor Moyer, Liv Rohr, Kayla McIntyre, and Clara Krupp was third at 4:13.23.
Five women finished second in their events at the Doug Hansen Open. Alicia Fields placed second in the 200m after a PR time of 26.18. Kinsie Jacques took second in the mile with a PR of 5:38.83. Trinity Greer was second in the 60m when she crossed the finish line at 7.84 seconds, a PR for her. Tori Henson achieved a PR in the high jump at 1.47m to take second. Henson recorded a second PR in the 200m at 27.13. Abby Karst finished second in the shot put with a toss of 10.63 m. She was third in the weight throw with a PR mark of 10.27m.
Ernest Morris led the men's team with two second-place finishes in the 60m and 200m runs. Morris timed in 6.99 seconds in the 60m before setting a PR in the 200m at 22.89. Xavier Santiago was second in the high jump (1.95m) and third in the long jump with a PR of 5.94m. Luke Burns placed second in the 400m with a time of 53.63. Noah Shaw took second in the weight throw with a heave of 15.71m before placing third in the shot put at 14.78m. Lukas Ray was second in the shot put with a PR of 16.04m. Deven Varela placed second in the pole vault with a mark of 4.33m. KJ Jackson II was second in the 200m with a time of 22.89 and fourth in the 60m with a 7.07 finish.
MaKayla Williams (60m, 8.29), Kayla McIntyre (800m, 2:32.65), and Taylor Moyer (200m, 26.62) were all third place in their events. The men had two third-place finishers in Isaac Zammit (3K, 8:50.41 PR) and Wilson Tschirhart (pole vault 3.73m).
