UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. – The Saginaw Valley State University track and field team hosted the annual SVSU Classic meet on Friday afternoon. The Cardinals collected seven event wins with four coming on the women's side and three from the men.
The SVSU women's team won two track events with Angelina Delbosque winning the 200m with a time of 25.19 seconds and Karissa Picard picking up the win in the mile with a time of 5:04.77. Madisyn Lundquist and Janae Hudson earned wins in the field events for the Cardinals. Lundquist won the pole vault with a PR mark of 3.42m and Hudson set a PR in the shot put with a throw of 12.78m to finish first.
Jack Lobodzinski won the men's 3K with a finish of 8:20.48. The other two wins came in the field with Xavier Santiago winning the high jump after clearing a PR of 2.00m. Lukas Ray was the final men's winner with a first-place toss of 15.46m in the shot put.
Nick McArdle, Sawyer Moloy, Wilson Tschirhart, and Noah Shaw were all runners-up in their respective events. McArdle crossed the finish in the 3K at 8:23.40 to set a new PR. Moloy placed second in the high jump after a 1.95m clearance. He was also third in the long jump with a best leap of 6.54m. Tschirhart cleared the pole vault bar at 4.03m to earn his second-place finish. Shaw set PR marks in both the shot put and weight throw. His 15.10m mark in the shot earned second, while the 15.74m heave in the weight gave him third.
Trinity Greer was one of four Cardinal athletes to place third at the meet, with a time of 7.93 in the 60m. Sophia Thelen crossed the finish line at 25.34 in the 200m for third, while Tori Henson jumped 5.27m for the same finish in the long jump. Jacob Walker was the only third-place finisher for the men with his PR time in the 3K of 8:25.27.
Hudson earned her second top-five finish of the meet with a fourth-place showing in the weight throw after hitting a mark of 13.34m. Jenna Picard was fourth in the mile with a time of 5:13.47 and Olivia Carpenter finished fourth in the 60h with a time of 9.31 in the final heat. Two men's athletes placed fourth with Ernest Morris and Lukas Kriesch setting PRs in their events. Morris had a 6.90 time in the 60m while Kriesch completed the 3K in 8:42.90.
Carpenter had a second top-five finish when she placed fifth in the high jump after clearing the bar at 1.42m. Chaniya Madison was fifth in the 200m with a time of 25.98. Jenna Sweeney set a PR in the mile after a finish of 5:13.73. Corey Bowers and Noah Verlinde were fifth on the men's side. Bowers ran the mile in 4:19.87, while Verlinde completed the 3K in 8:45.03. Alex Stoll was the final top-five finisher for the Cardinals after placing fifth in the 60h at 8.83.
