NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2024 NCAA Division II all-academic team and individual honors on Monday, July 15, 2024. Both the Cardinal men's and women's track and field teams earned the overall team all-academic award. The men compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.2, while the women's team registered a 3.46.
For a team to receive the All-Academic Team award the GPA of each student-athlete on the institution's squad list for indoor and/or outdoor track and field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
In addition to the team awards, three SVSU men and nine women were listed on the all-academic athletes list.
Ryan Brenner, Jack Lobodzinski, Dominic Suliman were the men's honorees. Cassie Campbell, Grace Collett, Angelina Delbosque, Alexa Keiser, Cheyenne Nesbitt, Alona Olshevska, Karissa Picard, Sophia Thelen, and Ciera Weber represented the women's team.
Olshevska led the way for SVSU as a four-time All-Academic Athlete, having won the award in 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22, in addition to this season. Brenner, Collett, and Picard made the list of All-Academic winners for the second consecutive year. Weber and Thelen were on the list for the second time as they earned the award in 2021-22.
To make it on the athlete list a student-athlete must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 on a 4.0 scale, completed 24 semester hours through the end of the semester of competition, and earned an automatic or provisional qualifying mark in either the indoor or outdoor season.
