Cardinals Claim Four More All-America Awards on Final Day of Outdoor National Championships

EMPORIA, KAN. – The Saginaw Valley State University track and field members competing at the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championships claimed four more All-America honors on the final day of the meet (Saturday, May 25).

Alona Olshevska led the way by breaking her school record in the 400m run with a time of 52.78 seconds to finish second and earn her first individual All-America award at the meet and her second overall for 2024.

Cheyenne Nesbitt earned her third All-America of the meet when she cleared the high jump bar at 1.71m to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place.

Olshevska and Nesbitt joined Sophia Thelen and Angelina Delbosque on the women's 4x100 relay team to finish seventh with a time of 45.65 to earn All-America status.

Dominic Suliman claimed the final All-America distinction in the 1500m final when he finished eighth after a time of 3:55.19.

The SVSU men scored three points at the meet to finish 46th. The women registered 25 points to crack the top 10. It is one spot better than the 2023 outdoor meet and the second top-10 finish in the last four seasons.

The SVSU Cardinals complete the outdoor national meet with Nesbitt's historical fourth-straight National Championship in the Heptathlon. Saginaw Valley finished the 2024 Outdoor season with seven All-Americans and set four new school records at the NCAA meet, 11 total outdoor school records were broken during the season.
