Nine Track & Field Student-Athletes Named USTFCCCA All-Region

NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-Region honors on Friday afternoon. Alona Olshevska, Cheyenne Nesbitt, Alexa Keiser, Cassie Campbell, Angelina Delbosque, and Sophia Thelen were the six women's team representatives. Dominic Suliman, Christian Purchase-Ofoeme, and Ryan Brenner were the men's team honorees.

Olshevska was named to the All-Region team in the 400m and the 4x100 relay. She qualified for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships in both events. She is ranked 10th in the 400m with a season-best time of 53.39, an SVSU outdoor record. She was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Outdoor Women's Track Athlete of the Meet.

Nesbitt is All-Region in the heptathlon, long jump, high jump, 100 hurdles, and the 4x100 relay. Nesbitt is also an NCAA DII Outdoor Nationals qualifier. She ranks second in the heptathlon, an event she has won national titles in the past three seasons. Nesbitt is fourth in the 100 hurdles and fifth in the long jump. She claimed both the GLIAC Women's Outdoor Field Athlete and High-Point Athlete of the Meet.

Keiser earned All-Region in the steeple chase. She ranks 13th in the event and qualified for the NCAA DII National meet with a record-breaking time of 10:27.04.

Campbell makes the All-Region list in the 400 hurdles. She is a national qualifier in the 4x400 relay team. It will be the first outdoor National Championship appearance of her career.

Delbosque and Thelen are the other two members of the 4x100 relay team to earn All-Region. They, along with teammates Olshevska and Nesbitt, set a new school record in the event twice this season, the most recent time was a finish of 45.22. The mark ranks 10th going into the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships.

Suliman earns All-Region in the 1500 with his school record time of 3:43.41. He ranks eighth in the event and qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Meet.

Purchase-Ofoeme made the list in the Decathlon with his outstanding debut season for the Cardinals. He was the GLIAC Champion in the Decathlon with a final score of 6,596.

Brenner was also All-Region in the Decathlon. Brenner will compete in the NCAA DII Outdoor Championships, where he ranks 13th in the event with a season-high score of 7,058.  Brenner was an All-American in the Decathlon a season ago.

Eight of the nine USTFCCCA All-Region student-athletes will compete in the NCAA DII National Meet in Emporia, Kansas on May 23-25 inside Welch Stadium.
